Not yet partying, but Mycoboutique is now welcoming visitors from all walks of life 7 days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Your security is guaranteed: the number of visitors is limited to five at a time and a mask is offered to everyone who does not already have one. In addition, the interior space has been redesigned to facilitate social distancing and to speed up online order processing. As always, you can also place your orders online or by phone.
During May lockdown all of our activities, sadly, had to be rescheduled. Thus, the two morel excursions have been postponed until next year as the period when this species fruits has already passed. Actually, morels seem to have also followed the rules of social distancing since they were scarce where they were usually abundant. Don’t worry, you can always pick plenty at the store, these were picked during last Spring's West Coast harvest.
Starting mid-July, with the resurgence of chanterelles, we plan to resume our hikes in the forest: many opportunities have been added and will continue to be added to our program until October.
For participants in the mushroom initiation evening conference postponed to July 9, we offer an option for those who prefer staying home instead of coming to the shop: we will send an invitation by email with the password to participate online in front of a computer equipped with a webcam. You will be able to ask questions and join in the discussion.
After fungi, insects will some day become part of our diet. Like many of you, we have taken advantage of the pandemic interlude to diversify our culinary experiences. Cep mushroom flour and cricket flour (56% protein) combine wonderfully in baking. Try our shortbread recipe yourself by adding an equal part of cricket flour to the porcini flour and reducing the proportion of wheat flour by the same amount. You will have a delicious hazelnut-almond shortbread with a protein supplement.
For a maple taste, you can try our similar candy cap shortbread recipe.
